The clear text issue works on NT and 98,. the other option is to enable
encrypted passwords under samba which is now available.  I haven;t
succeded in setting that up yet though.

clear text passwords open a number of holes (not just transmitted ones).

Can you tell I am catching up on ale? Down from 1500 to 500 messages.
