[ale] Rh5.1 + updates install

I have a fellow student here at Ga Tech that burned himself a custom redhat 5.1
cd-rom with the updates packages on it. He said that he had to re-run some
program that created some index files or something likethat but that it did
work and he was able to to do a normal upgrade and get all the updates as
well.
