[ale] additional info on pppd

Regarding my previous post on pppd dying when trying to connect to my ISP, I
just noticed that dmesg also contains:

CSLIP: code copyright 1989 Regents of the University of California
CSLIP: code copyright 1989 Regents of the University of California
Non-module reference! Rejected!

Do I need CSLIP? Could this be the source of my problem? Thanks.
