[ale] NFS permission problem

I am unable to do a nfs mount from a SGI client to a Linux host running RH4.2.
Even though I added the client to the /etc/exports file, sent SIGHUP to
the nfs daemon, and even restarted the nfs daemon but I always get this:
May 7 19:42:33 crhpc mountd[221]: Access by unknown NFS client 123.456.111.222.
May 7 19:42:33 crhpc mountd[221]: Blocked attempt of 123.456.111.222 to mount /home/u1
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
