Check out this RealAudio of Friday's Netscape story from NPR's All Things
Considered:
http://www.npr.org/ramfiles/980501.atc.07.ram
Included are segments of interviews with Richard Stallman (FSF founder,
emacs), Eric S. Raymond ("The Cathedral and the Bazaar" (bizarre?:-),
"Homesteading the Noosphere", maintainer of fetchmail), Jim Hammerly
(Netscape VP), and Todd Nielson (Microsoft head of relations with
independent programmers).
Mr. Nielson provides the opposing (negative) viewpoint. He calls
Netscape's Open Source initiative a "Kamikazi move," and claims it will
fragment the net and make things harder on web designers.
