[ale] HowTO make a new HD partition ?

Greetings !


Running RedHat4.2, I now have hda1 =500M, hda2 =1.5Gig and would now 

like to implement a new partition hda3 of 1Gig [from a 4Gig disk] usable 

as a buffer for tape backups.

Question(s): 

Can I simply edit File System Manager under the Control Panel to setup
the new partition ?

 If so how should this be accomplished to enable such a partition to
permit access as a buffer from Linux in hda2 ?

If not, how should this be accomplished ?
