[ale] rh5 redneck support

I installed RH5.1 as redneck (looked fun) but have run into a serious
problem - this actually sets your system's locale to en_RN instead of C.
How can I change a rednecked RH5.1 system back to C locale (i.e. how can I
change the system locale on an installed and running system?)
