The RealTek 8029 card is simply a NE2000 clone that plugs into a PCI bus
slot. The correct driver to use for this is the PCI version of the NE2000
network devices. It should be listed under Ethernet Devices -> EISA, PCI
and VLB drivers
I have one working fine in my system running fine in my system with a
2.1.127 kernel. I can try upgrading that system to a 2.2pre1 kernel
this weekend if you still have a problem after the above hint.
