[ale] First Use of Samba

I just installed redhat 5.1.  Samba is installed as a default.  The daemon
is running.  My initial effort to map a win 95 pc to the Linux box resulted
in an incorrect password error.

I know the login and password is correct.  Is there something obvious I can
check?  Is there some issue with text vs encrypted passwords with the Linux
daemon and win95? I have no idea what win95 sends to Linux.  I don't know if
straight text vs encryption is an issue...  The password incidentally is all
lower case with numbers...
