[ale] 12GB HD and Linux?

Does anyone have experience installing a 12GB (or any really big HD) and
getting it to work with linux? I searched dejanews and read a few messages
about only being able to access 8.4 gigs so I'm interested in any info
that you could provide. I didn't see a HOWTO on this, so if there is one,
could someone point me to it? BTW, its a Quantum BigFoot 12GB that'll be
running on a Pentium Pro motherboard I purchased inearly 1997.
