Still sorting out a new box, I am having trouble getting the "Device"
section of XF86Config correct for my new video card.
The card is a "Path 411" 'Trio 64,' and the chip is an 86C765. XF86_S3
should support this chip, but I keep getting refusals to match the card's
chipset. I tried several variants on:
Chipset "86C765", Chipset "S3", ...,
but apparently the server extracts a text string it can't recognize as a
proper chipset, and exits. Also, the card has some type of ramdac, but I
can't identify the type. How can I get this information into the card
definition, or do I need to? This is XFree-3.2, straight off the RedHat
4.2 cdrom.
I am using something like the following:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Path 411"
VendorName "Path"
BoardName "Trio64"
Chipset "86C765"
VideoRam 2048
EndSection
