[ale] Sockified net utilities?

Since SGI has purchased Cray and I'm now on an SGI network I can no
longer use telnet or ftp to get out of the corporate network with my
Linux machine.  The firewall requires "sockified" net utilities.  I use
rftp and rtelnet on the SGI boxes.  Does anyone know if such things are
available for Linux?
