The kernel building section in the 4.2 manual has you manually
renaming the old kernel, manually copying the new kernel to
/boot/vmlinuz, editing /etc/lilo.conf to your liking and then running
/sbin/lilo. If you have a copy of the official manual take a look
around in the neighborhood of page 63.
