Sorry to resurrect a now-dead thread, but I'm just getting caught up on
all the mail from over the break when this was discussed....
A somewhat similar discussion recently went on on the Caldera-users
mailing list recently. The result was that Jeff Barr (the guy who
developed the Looking Glass desktop for linux that Caldera incorporates
into their products) proposed developing an object system for linux and is
currently working on doing so, but he'd like help. See
http://www.caldera.com/mail-archive/caldera-users/nov96/1815.html for info
on what he's proposing, his email address, etc. if you're interested in
contributing.
later,
chris
