Thanks for the help on my home PPP link.  papa-bear is now speaking to
baby-bear
directly.  I rebuilt the kernal and made sure gateways were allowed.
That makes a
difference!

There's still the issue of starting the ppp link at boot-time.  No
matter where I run pppd
from in the boot process, it seems that the second machine that comes up
kills the pppd
process already started on the first machine.  I don't get it!  From the
keyboard it works,
but from rc.local it won't.
