Hi!,

	I was looking at my linux box yesterday and found this 'free'
command which tells you the amount of memory, free memory etc. I have
8 MB on my machine, DOS sees it, I can physically see it. But when I 
do free, it shows only 6MB!! Can anybody tell me why?

I am running the oldest slackware ( the first one that came out on a CD)
the kernel version is 1.0.8, I think.
