}Ok the probelm was that I misread the cabling (It was all rubber banded..)

}The cdrom was in fact a secondary slave, therefore:

}hda:  Primary Master
}hdb:  non-existent Primary Slave
}hdc:  non-existent Secondary Master.
}hdd:  Secondary Slave

This is the way mine is configured, but I do have a second disk on my primary.

}Thus handing lilo hdd=cdrom ficed the probelm.  I now get the hdc error
}Geoffrey Myers talked about.  I assume that is due to the secondary
}having a slave and no master.  If I try to run the cdrom as a a
}secondary master, the machine  has fits.  I noticed in the README.ide
}that the requirement that the solo cdrom need be a master is
}non-existent for 1.3.x.  I guess that it has been incorportated into
}1.2.13, or that error message is what the readme is refereing to.

I'm running 1.2.8 and have my cdrom as secondary slave with no problems.
