[ale] PPP Connection

Anyone know the answer to this, rioght off hand?

Chat dials...modems connect...get:

Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS1
LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests

I've looked in all the documentation I can find, but see no mention of 
this error.  Having never done PPP before, I am somewhat clueless.  Any 
help is appreciated....
