NCSA httpd

I tried to install NCSA httpd -- I think I've got all the .conf files 
right. But when I try to run it I get "Segmentation fault." What does 
this mean?

I got the Linux binary for 1.2.13, which I am running. Should I try 
compiling my own binary?

I have no idea what I'm doing, so all help is appreciated.
