FYI, I have a 386 box with an old 3C501 card that works fine with
normal "bare" linux kernels. The card may be slow, but I can't tell --
it's a slow little 386 anyway, but a cute puppy.
I just ignored all the rantings in the HOWTO about how braindead
the 3C501 is -- it was free.

my first posting here. I'm new to PC
hardware and to Linux, but I'm an
old unix hack. In the past month
I've gotten four Linuxboxen up and
running -- it's a daintly little
kernel, & pretty addictive. Sorry
