Re: Addiction to the Net (fwd)
You people haven't heard anything yet!!
Once upon a time, I had an IBM RS/6000 (model 220) in my bedroom.
Courtesy of my company.
Then my wife discovered the Internet. Then she discovered my
computer. Then I lost my computer (at least I didn't lose my wife
-- yet) -- she took over my desk and my computer.
Being the nice husband that I am, I went out and bought a used Sun
Sparc 2 workstation (got a very good deal) so that I could get the
RS/6000 back. Unfortunately, my wife liked "her" computer
better. But that's OK -- I like the Sparc. Now our bedroom has 2
UNIX workstations (RS/6000 and Sparc 2), one PC (my wife is a
writer), three 2.4 GB disk drives, one CDROM drive, one tape
drive, and one 28.8kb modem. We need to keep the bedroom air
conditioner on!
You know how in the movies, after the couple has sex, they go for
the cigarettes? We go for our computers.
Gives a whole new meaning to Co-ed Naked Computing (my wife says
everyone will understand this sentence except geeks -- I didn't
get it).
See you all at 3am,
Joe
