a bit of education on latin prefixes
this is from about a week ago (Azeem I. Pirani, [email protected]), but i
hadn't read all the way through it until now.

in robbie's first month as a tech support maven (before i had even coined
the name "s'port"), i was treated to the nerd version of the above.
strolling past robbie's desk, i glanced down at him to say `howdy'. he
was on the phone with a user and i picked up the thread of the call at
this point:
"yes, ma'am. if it's on the outside of your
computer, then it's an *ex*ternal modem."
... delivered in that earnest way that is pure honerkamp.
