That quote is attributed to Andrew Tanenbaum, and appeared in 
_Computer_Networks_, 2nd Edition, Prentice-Hall, 1988

I believe it was carried over from the 1st. Edition.  I know it does also 
appear in 3rd. Edition of the book.

The complete quote, which appears on page 57 of 2nd Edition is ...

'Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon full of tapes 
hurtling down the highway.'


ObTrivia: Where in Tanenbaum's writings does the quote ...

'The nice thing about standards is that you have so many to choose from.'
